The Colquitt Theatre was opened in 1937. It was operated by E.J. Hunter who closed it on January 24, 1949, after he took over the State Theatre, which was renamed Colquitt Theatre. This first Colquitt Theatre later became the Hunter Theatre.
Following renovations, by 2021 it had reopened as the Colquitt State Theatre, in use as a banquet hall and for special events.
